As an off licence you are legally allowed to sell alcohol to over eighteens for consumption off the premises, however you are also required to adhere to laws set out by the government. For example, you must be able to prove that everyone you serve alcohol to is over the age of twenty five or has provided ID showing they are over eighteen. Off licence owners have to be vigilant when it comes to their customers as many try to break the law. For instance, if you believe a customer is attempting to buy alcohol for under eighteens you should report them to the police and ban them from your store. Even though your off licence insurance is there to help you should an issue occur, it cannot protect you if you break the law.
