Summer is the official wedding season in the UK as it’s the only time there’s a chance it won’t rain. This means that salons – both beauty and hair – across the country are usually extremely busy during summer looking after brides before their big days. In fact, some salons spend months working with their clients before their actual wedding days arrive, which means they make a sizable income. So if you want some of the action, why not offer your clients some wedding-themed treatments…

Health and Beauty

If there is one thing that every bride wants to look on her wedding day it’s healthy, which means that they need glowing skin, perfect nails and flowing, shiny hair. However, looking your best often takes time, which means that brides need to adapt a strict health and beauty routine weeks or even months before their big days. Some things they can do on their own, such as eating a healthy diet and doing exercise on a regular basis, however there are other things that they will need your help with.

A number of brides go to beauty salons on a regular basis during the build up to their wedding days in order to have facials and other body treatments. Therefore, it may be wise for you to offer your clients a package deal where they can have a number of facials or other treatments for a discount price. This will not only help you secure business from brides-to-be but will also give you a steady income over a period of weeks or months.

Hair Styling

Before their wedding days most brides choose to grow their hair so that they have more options when it comes to designs. Longer hair is often easier to work with as it means that you can offer your clients a range of styles, including leaving the hair down and styling it with curls or waves or putting it into an elaborate up-do. As a hairdresser, you will probably meet your client a month or two before their big day in order to try different styles and see which one they like best.

Along with choosing a hair style for your client, it is likely you will also discuss colour options with them such as highlights or an all-over tint. It’s of the utmost importance that before you perform any colour work on your clients that they carry out a skin test even if they have had their hair dyed in your salon before. The last thing they want is to have a reaction a few weeks before their wedding day!

Make-Up and Nails

Make-up and nail treatments are the final touches for any bride, and you can be sure that everyone on the day will comment on them. Generally, brides choose to have natural make-up and nail colours, however this doesn’t mean you should assume this is all the products you will need. These days, weddings are extremely varied which means that you need to make sure you have a range of make-up and nail colours at hand when meeting a bride.

Much like hair stylists, most beauticians also meet their clients a few weeks or months before their wedding days in order to try out different options and ensure that they are happy with their choices. When you first meet a client it may be wise to bring bridal magazines in order to give them some ideas of what you can do and what’s popular when it comes to bridal make-up right now. You may need to also offer them some more modern beauty treatments such as gel nail varnish and false eyelashes, so make sure you cover any new equipment you buy on your beauty insurance!

Your wedding day is supposed to be one of the best days of your life, and as a beauty or hair specialist you have an important part to play in making sure that a bride feels and looks beautiful on their special day. Make sure you brush up on your skills and offer your clients a range of treatments and you should have brides-to-be visiting you time and time again!
